March 16, 2022 Annual 2X4 Challenge

There are only a few entries right now, but there is still time !  Especially if you get your best ideas when the deadline gets closer.

Some boots by Andy Lockhart - 2021 2X4 Challenge Entry

The main guidelines of the 2X4 challenge are:

·         maximum volume of wood in the piece is not to exceed 768 cubic inches (5.33 board feet).  There can be lots of air space.

·         minimum 95% wood but other materials are permitted

·         create your piece between now and March 13, 2022

·         this year’s theme is to “Incorporate Three Types of Wood”

Please email a description of your entry letting us know what three types of wood you used and 5-10 photos to info@SAWS.ca before March 13, 2022.  At least one photo should be the finished project but others can be ones taken that show how you constructed your piece.

Then during the meeting you will have 5-10 minutes, to present your piece as the pictures are shared with the group.

We still have three $20 gift certificates that were generously donated by Lee Valley Tools last fall so after the meeting an on line gallery will be set up for members to vote on the three most popular items.  The winners will receive the gift certificates.
