Postponed: 2021 SAWS Fine Works in Wood Exhibition moves to 2022

Calgary, Alta. June 7, 2021. The Southern Alberta Woodworkers Society (SAWS) has announced that its 2021 Fine Works in Wood Exhibition, slated for Calgary, Alta. in September of 2021, has been postponed.

“This was an extremely difficult decision for our board to make because this Exhibition has been a cornerstone of SAWS and the woodworking community for many years,” says Neil Dorin, SAWS President. “However, with the emerging conditions in the marketplace related to the COVID 19 pandemic, it became clear that there was a high risk that we would not be able to put on an event with the very high standards expected by our exhibitors.

“The plan is to postpone the Exhibition to 2022 where we hope, based on the situation at the time, we can host an event that meets our standards, exhibitor expectations and protects the safety of all participants.

“We understand the tremendous effort our exhibitors entered for 2021 have made in preparing their entries and we are making every effort to protect those interests. Entry fees will be refunded. Entries accepted for 2021 can be re-registered for 2022 when that opens.”

It’s important for those who entered this year to note that this postponement means that the review of entries planned for June 12-13 in Calgary will not take place, says Dorin. The best place to check on all developments is the SAWS website www.saws.ca.

“SAWS apologizes for any inconvenience this change has caused the woodworking community, but the integrity of the Exhibition and the safety of all participants is our prime concern.”
