SAWS Privacy Policy

Personal Information Protection Policy

The Federal government has enacted legislation beginning January 2004 to protect individuals’ information.  The Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act controls what information may be collected and how it may be used.

Currently the Southern Alberta Woodworkers Society (SAWS) retains the following personal information for our members: Name, Address, Phone Numbers and Email Address.  We use the information to contact you with regard to monthly or special meetings via the newsletter, phone calls or email notices.  We may also contact you with information that is deemed to be of benefit to the membership that may be commercial in nature, e.g., courses or products related to woodworking in general.

Name, address, home telephone number, e-mail address, and woodworking areas of interest information is included on a members list distributed to all members of SAWS.  This list is for the personal use of SAWS members, and may not be used for commercial purposes, nor may it be supplied to non-members of SAWS.

Membership information is not shared with any other organization, commercial or private.

To meet the intent of the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act, please advise us if you wish your information to be corrected or removed from our files.  Without this information, SAWS will not be able to contact you or provide any further SAWS information, thereby effectively nullifying your SAWS membership.

Your consent is required to allow SAWS use of your information for the above stated purposes.

SAWS deems that, by becoming a member, you have agreed that SAWS may use this information as outlined above, and that you agree to the restricted use of the membership list.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the executive of SAWS who are listed in every Newsletter or use the Contact page.
