Five Diamonds

Artist: Doug Drury - Strathmore Alberta

Artist’s Statement: This piece is a continuation of experimentation in using sacrificial wood to create a form whereby air becomes a medium in the overall piece. When looked at straight on there are five diamonds, three made of wood and two of air, that are suspended around a common thin ring. Two of the diamonds float only attached by the center band, the third wood diamond is the only point of contact with the base and top ring. Three sets of five diamonds form the overall shape of the piece.
