Our December meeting will be about The Leckie Table – Exploring Tapered Laminated Steam Bent Legs

Matt Smith is a full-time woodworker who takes on as much home renovation work as he has to so that he gets to make as much studio furniture as he can.  Every once in a while, a client comes along who is willing to take a chance; The Leckie Table was one of the best opportunities yet. 

Matt will briefly describe the criteria for the project, as well as challenges along the way.  The main focus of the evening will be an explanation and demonstration of tapered lamination as well as steam bending and how the two techniques can be combined to achieve the otherwise unachievable. 

To cover this ground in just one night Matt will have a few legs in the works so that we can pull some Julia Child style chicanery with one leg going into the oven as another one is coming out. 

Note: Covid and/or Internet issues may result in a change of plans. If we are unable to bring you Matt Smith’s presentation we will “twist” to another interesting topic.  See you there!
